Ranking Return to Ravnica Bloc Tokens

Who knew there would be so many tokens in just one block? I've ranked all 20 tokens in the Return to Ravnica bloc in ascending order:

[Goblin Token]
Zzzz...

[Saproling Token]
Nothing new here

[Soldier Token]
Boring creature type, nice badonk

[Centaur Token]
I've seen altogether too many of these drafting online

[Bird Token]
Ditto

[Rhino Token]
Crash of Rhinos?

[Angel Token]
Too typical

[Dragon Token]
Ditto. And weak art on both.

[Knight Token]
For some reason these vigilance bears speak to me.

[Rat Token]
Getting better. Note, this is not a Pack Rat. The token doesn't have deathtouch. The Ogre grants it to all rats.

[Soldier Token]
Red-white soldier tokens are infinitely better than white soldier tokens, but is there some rules reason why the soldier token isn't printed with haste? Other keywords made the cut.

[Wurm Token]
Are the humans trying to Gulliver's Travels the Wurm in this picture 1/1s? If so, it should only take 5.

[Cleric Token]
Trying too hard to be special. Useless without an Angel in your yard.

[Elemental Token] (Green/White)
Full marks for originality, but something is missing here.

[Elemental Token]
The guildmark adds a nice touch. I like the simplicity here and the unusual stats for a token.

[Spirit Token]
Love the Orzhovian stained glass and the guildmark, but that's about it

[Horror Token]
The blue-black hybrid background offers nice contrast with the red demon horror-wings. Again, the guildmark is fantastic behind the one-word text box.

[Ooze Token]
Heart Oozes

[Assassin Token]
This assassin has badass rules text.

[Frog Lizard Token]
FROG. LIZARD.

  1. Whoever painted the wurm should be fired. That's really sloppy quality control. It's like they don't even understand how the game works.

  2. This definitely cracked me up. Though I felt the second elemental is a little low since they did a great 'shadows of the colossus' vibe on it.

Also, Oozes at the bronze medal? Very soft. Very soft.

    1. Jed - thanks

      1) This is the beauty of a subjective list
      2) Oozes are awesome. I agree with the practical reasons you give about */*. But it does speak to the very nature of the ooze, doesn't it? You've convinced me, it should be higher.

  4. I think I preferred it when there were separate ooze tokens for 4/4, 2/2, 1/1. Using */* just strikes me as being lazy for a token because it doesn't help define it! If a token also needs a die to specify what it is, why not just have a die? THE TOKEN CARD IS POINTLESS.
