Oathwatch Tokens

Plant (0/1 edition)

(Nissa, Voice of Zendikar)
Dammit Nissa, would it kill you to make a useful 1/1 plant instead? It's just on one mythic, so we'll survive but it still seems needless to have both 0/1 plants and 1/1 plants in the same block. It's a reprint of Worldwake so whatever.

Octopus

(Crush of Tentacles)
The Octopus comes back! Sure it's just on another mythic but always good to see. Also apparently no Oath octopus token, just use the BFZ one.

Magic The Gathering Battle for Zendikar: Octopus Token Card Kingdom

Still love the art on that one.

Zombie

Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Zombie Token Card Kingdom
(Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, Drana's Chosen, Null Caller,
Magic The Gathering 10th Edition: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering 2010 Core Set: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering 2013 Core Set: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Dragons of Tarkir: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Journey into Nyx: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Khans of Tarkir: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Mirrodin Besieged: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Shards of Alara: Zombie Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Innistrad: Zombie Token (#8) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Innistrad: Zombie Token (#9) Card Kingdom

10th/2012, 2010/2011, Avacyn/Innistrad/Conspiracy/2013/2014/2015, DTK, Nyx, KTK, Mirrodin, Alara, Innistrad (2), Innistrad (3)

Zombie always has a lot to live up to, since it's guaranteed to come back and back and back. I admit I like the new zombie here, merging the organic shuffle with the hard hedron geometry. Makes sense now while still working going forward (unlike the Mirrodin/Alara ones).

Elemental

Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Elemental Token (Red) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Elemental Token (Green) Card Kingdom
(Chandra Flamecaller, Seed Guardian)

A brief reminder on the mess that is elemental:
Magic The Gathering Born of the Gods: Elemental Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Dragon's Maze: Elemental Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Eventide: Elemental Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Duel Decks: Elves vs Goblins: Elemental Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Lorwyn: Elemental Token (Green) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Theros: Elemental Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Zendikar: Elemental Token Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Shadowmoor: Elemental Token (Black/Red) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering 2014 Core Set: Elemental Token (Jaime Jones) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Lorwyn: Elemental Token (White) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Shadowmoor: Elemental Token (Red) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Rise of the Eldrazi: Elemental Token Card Kingdom

Oath carries that tradition forward by having not one but TWO elementals with differing power/toughness. You have Chandra pooping out red 3/1 temporary ones and the Seed Guardian knocking out a green X/X on death. I'm surprised that wizards didn't just make one of them black while they were at it.

The good news is that you can repurpose the 3/1 elemental from Theros block (that fact that it's not supposed to be an Enchantment Creature will be forgiven by opponents impressed at the art variance) A bit more of a stretch would be using the red */* elemental token from Rise of Eldrazi for the Seed Guardian. I'm willing to bend on semi-pointless card type but playing a token of entirely the wrong color seems wrong.

Kor Ally

Magic The Gathering Battle for Zendikar: Kor Ally Token Card Kingdom
Sure, whatever. Still just BFZ. Also only on two rares.

Knight Ally Token

Ditto ditto ditto. Except it's on an uncommon. Yawn.

Eldrazi Token

Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Eldrazi Scion Token (001 A) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Eldrazi Scion Token (002 B) Card Kingdom Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Eldrazi Scion Token (003 C) Card Kingdom
Pretty slick that we have three new art reflecting Kozilek's more arcane geometry. Big fan. Also of interest, apparently they repeated the BFZ scions as well? interesting. Well I guess Ulamog is still around.

Angel

Magic The Gathering Oath of the Gatewatch: Angel Token Card Kingdom
3/3. An Angel is 3/3. This reeks of R&D desperately trying to tweak a card. (btw the mythic rare is still so absolutely stone-cold absurd that I don't see 3/3 or 4/4 making a difference) But now we have a 3/3 Angel contaminating the token pool.

BUT WHAT A SWEET TOKEN. Excellent art direction, cleverly asexual without being sexless. Big fan.
